Wireless Dog Fences
Wireless dog fences are innovative devices that allow your pet to roam outside relatively unfettered around your property without having to actually put up a new fence. People with landscaped gardens will appreciate the lack of fencing all over their yard. These devices come in a wide array of configurations and applications.
What issue do wireless dog fences address? Your dog likes to get into everything. He or she is curious about everything in the outside world. Some of you may keep your dog indoors for most of the time and so they are unfamiliar with the numerous dangers of being outside. One of the biggest problems is straying off the property and getting lost.
Since we want our pet to roam free without a leash, wireless dog fences become a viable solution. The actual unit consists of two parts, the electronic fence part and the dog’s collar. So how does the whole system work? Well, it is simple. The collar is a receiver. Whenever the dog reaches the edge of the allowed perimeter as defined by you during setup, then the collar emits an electrical charge that the dog finds uncomfortable. This makes them back away from the invisible fence to make it stop.
Over time, your pet will understand and obey the wireless dog fences perimeter, negating the need for corrective action. There are many issues with this approach. First off, what if your dog is very stubborn and simply ignores the electrical charge? This charge is not designed to hurt the animal and so carries a finite charge. If your dog simply ignores it, there’s not much you can do. Also, what if the batteries die in the dog’s collar? Let’s say that fido loves to traverse the fence and annoy a neighbor or a neighbor’s dog. If he/she does this all day long, the batteries may eventually wear down. After this, its open season.
Another common complaint with wireless dog fences is that they don’t keep other people’s pets and wild animals out. Many people opt for a real fence because this is a problem that is not solved with an electric perimeter fencing solution.
